How many of you out there listen to Apocalyptica? If you have never heard of them please do us a favor and put them on your iPod. But if you are dedicated fans of string metal, you are obligated to listen to the band I’m about to mention. For those of you who really have no idea what or who I’m talking about allow me to give you another history lesson. We all recognize names such as, Metallica, System of a Down, and/or Coheed and Cambria, correct? Okay, in recent years there have been a few bands that do cover songs of the previously mention bands. But what makes them interesting is that they have combined metal songs with calssical instruments. One of the most popular names of this sub-genre is Apocalyptica. They mainly cover Metallica but man can they write original songs. I highly recommend Hope Vol. 2.
But this entry is not about them. This is about a band who are form the Bay Area. They are called Judgement Day and they consist of three members, Anton Patzner (violin), Lewis Patzner (cello), and Jon Bush (drums). The things I like about Judgement Day is that their sound has a little edge to it. Its incorporate faster, heavier, complex music but all the while its still very pleasant to listen to. I can’t really promise everyone will like this band because well, its a very selective tune but if your at all curious of how three guys from the Bay can rock out using mainly classical instruments be my guest to press play.
